This next speak is an extremely talented and well respected developer. We’re happy to have him as a keynote at WordCamp St. Louis this year. Read his answers to our interview questions below.

Interview with Chris Wiegman

NILE FLORES: When did you start using WordPress?

CHRIS WIEGMAN: Around 2008 casually and in projects starting around 2010.

NILE FLORES: What are a few takeaways that attendees will get from your talk?

CHRIS WIEGMAN: There is a huge ecosystem out there that can help both your project and yourself. Make use of it.

NILE FLORES: WordPress is turning 15 years old. What would you like to see in the future for WordPress?

CHRIS WIEGMAN: An elected board in charge of the governance and direction of the .org project.

NILE FLORES: “And just for funsies”, over the past few years, the WordPress community has seen the rise of the cute Wapuu character? Heard of it? And if so, what’s your favorite Wapuu? (Wapuu Reference: https://wapu.us/ )

CHRIS WIEGMAN: Typically which ever camp I’m at has my favorite Wapuu for the moment (although I’m partial to any design with an airplane in it.)

NILE FLORES: What is your favorite area of the WordPress admin?

CHRIS WIEGMAN: It’s all part of the same tool.

NILE FLORES: What are the top three WordPress plugins that you believe every WordPress user should have installed?

CHRIS WIEGMAN: Yoast SEO, Akismet and Jetpack are the three I still put in every project I do with WordPress.
