Heard of Lando? David Needham will be speaking about Local WordPress with Lando at WordCamp St. Louis. David says that it’s a platform that “it’s easy to create a free, open source, local development environment so that I can work faster and more efficiently.”
Here’s a little bit about David’s WordPress journey.
Interview with David Needham
NILE FLORES: When did you start using WordPress?
DAVID NEEDHAM: I was learning web design in college and I wanted something that I could build myself. WordPress was an obvious choice!
NILE FLORES: What are a few takeaways that attendees will get from your talk?
DAVID NEEDHAM: It’s easy to create a free, open source, local development environment so that I can work faster and more efficiently in WordPress.
NILE FLORES: WordPress is turning 15 years old. What would you like to see in the future for WordPress?
DAVID NEEDHAM: Greater collaboration with other open source communities (like Drupal.)
NILE FLORES:“And just for funsies”, over the past few years, the WordPress community has seen the rise of the cute Wapuu character? Heard of it? And if so, what’s your favorite Wapuu? (Wapuu Reference: https://wapu.us/ )
DAVID NEEDHAM: I’ve been a big fan of Pantheon’s famously soft and stylish t-shirts long before I started working for Pantheon. When I saw there was a Wapuu wearing the Pantheon shirt, I had to have it.
NILE FLORES: What is your favorite area of the WordPress admin?
DAVID NEEDHAM: Configuration management with the WP-CFM plugin! Get that configuration out of the database and into version control.
NILE FLORES: What are the top three WordPress plugins that you believe every WordPress user should have installed?
DAVID NEEDHAM: WP-CFM for exporting my site configuration. Yoast SEO for making sure my words are readable and on point. JetPack (+ mobile app for on the go publishing!)
